New trailer drops for Thai-Korean horror film 'The Medium,' by directors of 'The Wailing' and 'Shutter'

Thailand’s Banjong Pisanthanakun and South Korea’s Na Hong-jin have teamed up to create the film “The Medium,” a spooky new entry to the horror genre.

About the film: “The Medium” revolves around a film crew tagging along with a Thai shaman to document the passing of the mystic lineage between generations, according to The Hollywood Reporter.


Match made in horror heaven: Pisanthanakun is best known for his 2004 debut “Shutter,” while Na is renowned for his 2008 thriller “The Chaser.”

  • Over the years, Pisanthanakun has made films in a variety of genres, including the thriller “Alone” (2007), the romantic comedy “Hello Stranger” (2010), top-grossing comedy horror “Pee Mak” (2013) and the drama “One Day” (2016).

  • Meanwhile, Na has focused mainly on writing and directing thrillers such as “The Yellow Sea” (2010) and “The Wailing” (2016).

  • For “The Medium,” Pisanthanakun took on directorial duties while Na co-produced and co-wrote the film.
