Eastbound I-4 reopens 12 hours after being closed for death investigation near downtown Orlando

Update:

Eastbound lanes of Interstate 4 reopened Friday morning -- more than 12 hours after they were closed for a death investigation.

“The roadway is now open,” Orlando police tweeted. “Thank you to the community for your patience.”

Channel 9 expects to receive an update from police on the investigation sometime Friday.

A section of Interstate 4 near downtown Orlando is shut down for a death investigation.

All eastbound lanes of I-4 are closed at John Young Parkway.

Drivers are able to use the I-4 Express Lanes in the area to help get around the shutdown.

Traffic is building south of downtown Orlando as other drivers are maneuvering through alternates to get back on the highway.

As of 5 a.m. it is unclear when the eastbound lanes of I-4 will be reopened.

A source with Orlando Police Department has confirmed there is an ongoing death investigation.

Channel 9 is working to gather more information and will provide updates on Eyewitness News.
