Track roundup: Quabbin claims boys' title, Lunenburg takes girls' championship at Mid-Wach C meet

Boys' track

Mid-Wach C Championships: Quabbin's Owen Faulha won the shot put and the javelin, while teammate Andrew Twarog was tops in the high jump as the Panthers topped Lunenburg, 180.5-172.5 to claim the league title at Lunenburg High.

Quabbin's Brett Earle (shot put), Cannon Wilder (long jump, 400 hurdles), Brendon Sherblom (triple jump, 110 hurdles), Bryce Venne (high jump), William Hood (100), Emmet Wright (2 mile) all took second.

The Blue Knights were led by double winners Timothy Smith (100, 200), Brady Iovanni (110 hurdles, 40 hurdles) and Mike Alleva (mile, 800), while Zachary MacLure won the 400, Ben Sweet claimed the 2 mile and Jackson Dance prevailed in the discus. The Blue Knights also swept the relays.

Groton-Dunstable was third with 76 points, as the Crusaders were led by a win in the long jump from Matthew Githae.

Hudson's Joel Negron won the triple jump.

Girls' track

Mid-Wach C Championships: Moriah Scharn won the 100 hurdles, Karynna Long won the 400 hurdles, Abby Rodriquenz won the 800, Carli Stanford won the long jump and Grace Richard topped the field in the discus to help Lunenburg capture the league title at home with 172 points.

The Blue Knights also won the 3,200 relay.

Siena Salyer's wins in the 100 and 200 helped Groton-Dunstable take second with 160 points. Danielle Thompson won the 400 and Georgia Brooks took the 2 mile for the Crusaders.

Quabbin's Brooke Austin won the shot put, Emma Gatulis won the pole vault and the Panthers took the 400

Hudson's Savannah Gao (javelin), Madeline Haher (triple jump) also picked up wins, while the Hawks also won the 1,600 relay.
