Town of Palm Beach United Way's annual Holiday Toy Drive kicks off Sunday

Vilma Troche picks up toys on Dec. 7, 2021 at Fire-Rescue Station No. 1 that were collected for the Farmworker Coordinating Council during last year's Town of Palm Beach United Way toy drive. This year's gifts will go to clients at Achievement Centers for Children and Families, Opportunity Early Childhood Education and Family Center, and The Glades Initiative.

It's time once again to think of the children at the holidays.

This Sunday, the Town of Palm Beach United Way kicks off its 29th annual Holiday Toy Drive, which will run through Dec. 4.

“Our goal is to bring a smile to the face of as many children as possible,” said board Chairman Bill Tiefel. “With so many families struggling financially this year, we hope to receive a mountain of toys from the Palm Beach community.”

Toys are donated to children who receive services from Town of Palm Beach United Way nonprofit partner agencies. This year's gifts will go to clients at Achievement Centers for Children and Families, the Opportunity Early Childhood Education and Family Center, and The Glades Initiative.

“Our low-income families have a difficult decision to make during the holidays; purchase gifts for their children or fall short for basic needs such as food, transportation and rent,” said Alice Eger, executive director of the Opportunity center.

“Being the recipient of the Town of Palm Beach United Way Toy Drive will bring endless joy to our beautiful, deserving children. The joy extends to our parents, who will experience the gift of giving. Thank you to the Palm Beach community for making this holiday season one our families will treasure,” Eger said.

New, unwrapped toys can be delivered to the Central Fire Rescue Station, 355 S. County Road; the South Fire Rescue Station, 2185 S. Ocean Blvd.; Findlay Galleries, 165 Worth Ave.; the United Way office, 44 Cocoanut Row; or Field of Greens locations throughout Palm Beach County.

Cash and check donations also will be accepted. Donors can contribute online at www.palmbeachunitedway.org/toy-drive or send a check payable to Town of Palm Beach United Way with “Toy Drive” in the memo and mailed to the United Way office at 44 Cocoanut Row, Suite M201, Palm Beach, FL 33480.

Community partners for the drive include Field of Greens, Findlay Galleries, the Palm Beach Daily News, Town of Palm Beach Fire Rescue and Worth Avenue Association.

Last year, the toy drive collected hundreds of toys and more than $20,000. Donations are tax-deductible and 100% of the proceeds go directly to Palm Beach County children in need.
