Officials say that the sinkhole—roughly 10-feet wide and 4-feet deep—was found underneath a parked bus in the Beaches on Monday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to Queen Street East and Balsam Avenue shortly after 4:30 p.m.

The school bus was parked outside a school in the Beaches, waiting to pick up students and take them home.

Officials say no children were aboard the bus when it suddenly sank into the road.

It is not yet clear what caused the sinkhole and firefighters are checking for a possible water main break or gas leak in the area.

Sinkholes have been causing a lot of problems around Toronto lately as the city is finally working on repairs its roads and water mains, which are resulting in long street closures and damages to businesses.

Only two months ago, ongoing construction on pipes on the busy strip along Dundas between Brock and Sheridan Avenue became a larger issue when contractors discovered a sinkhole beneath the streetcar tracks.

In 2018, a massive sinkhole in the city caused by a water break swallowed a whole TTC vehicle in Toronto's Port Lands area.
