Raptors' Kyle Lowry returns from injury, will start against Heat

The Toronto Raptors, who have been dominant as of late, are set to get a boost as Kyle Lowry returns to the mix Tuesday night against Miami after recovering from his thumb injury.

Lowry missed the last 11 games after sustaining the injury on Nov. 8 against the New Orleans Pelicans. Diagnosed with a fracture of the distal phalanx of his left thumb, his absence was assumed to be a setback for the reigning champions.

But the Raptors went 9-2 without their starting guard, including a current seven-game winning streak after most recently demolishing the Utah Jazz at home. Fred VanVleet stepped up with the opportunity, averaging 21.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game, as well as shooting over 40 per cent from three during the 11-game span.

In eight games this season, Lowry has averaged 21.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game.
