Toronto Maple Leafs forward Trevor Moore was slated to make his return from injury on Tuesday night against the Buffalo Sabres but took a slight knock in practice on Monday, delaying his return.

In a corresponding move, Toronto has recalled forward Adam Brooks on an emergency basis to take Moore’s place on the roster for the game against the Sabres.

Brooks, 23, has not yet made his NHL debut after the Leafs selected him 92nd overall in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. For the last three years, the Winnipeg native has been cutting his teeth in the AHL with the Toronto Marlies.

Through 136 games played just one step away from the biggest stage in hockey, Brooks has scored 36 goals and 73 points — including 14 points in 18 games this season.

If Brooks does make his NHL debut Tuesday against the Sabres, it will be yet another Marlie turned Maple Leaf to continue Toronto’s recent development success.
