‘Top tier tenant lineup’ announced for Beaufort’s newest shopping center. What’s planned

A 200,000-square-foot plaza, given final approval last week, will be coming to Beaufort and is poised to bring a number of big-box retailers with it.

Beaufort Station, at the southwest corner of Robert Smalls Parkway and Parris Island Gateway across from Walmart, is scheduled to open in fall 2023 with retailers that include Hobby Lobby, Ross Dress for Less, Ulta Beauty and Old Navy, according to a city news release. Previous reporting also mentioned a Starbucks coffee shop, and additional tenants are expected to be announced soon.

Beaufort’s Design Review Board approved the center’s design for a second time at its Jan. 13 meeting. The board approved the project in August, but the developer made modifications before the city issued a final approval letter. Changes were discussed in the board’s December meeting, and the modifications were presented last week and approved.

The shopping plaza plans show nine anchor tenants with three outbuildings that will house restaurants.

Work on the 31-acre site, which being developed by The Morgan Companies, which specializes in real estate, is expected to start within the next few months, the release said.

“The growth story in Beaufort, and the South Carolina Lowcountry in general, is just phenomenal,” The Morgan Companies President Trey Morgan said in the release. “We are thrilled to bring a top tier tenant lineup to Beaufort, and we’re confident the community will be proud of the project when it is completed.”
