Movies in 2023 are promising a lot of badass female leads. 2022 kicked things off with strong women in MCU films like ‘Wakanda Forever’ with its kickass ensemble of women taking down the bad guy to ‘The Woman King’ starring Viola Davis - this movie season is about strong and inspiring characters we can look forward to meeting.

"It's clear stories told from the female perspective brings a whole new dynamic to the box office,” says Yahoo Finance’s Alexandra Canal. “That's why we're seeing a ton of really strong female-driven films this year with characters who are strong yet sensitive, smart yet silly, and emotional yet steadfast. Multi-layered and complex — just like us girls! From Ariel searching for her own independent voice to Margaret Simon questioning her religion, there's lessons to be learned from all of these films and the badass characters within them."

And just excitement for the life above [her] world. I think she really just goes for what she wants. She’s not scared. And it’s not all about a boy. It’s all about what she wants for herself, and her life.” (May 2023)
