The Times Herald's 2022 All-Blue Water Area football team

Football is a team sport. But now that the 2022 MHSAA season is over, it's time to honor the area's top players for their individual achievements.

Twelve schools are represented on the Times Herald's 2022 All-Blue Water Area football team.

Coaches from the area were asked to submit their top six players (three on offense, three on defense). Those submissions were taken into consideration along with other factors.

Here is the All-Blue Water Area football team, broken down by position. Players are listed in alphabetical order.

Quarterbacks

Dylan Bloink, Port Huron Northern, Senior — Bloink threw for 766 yards and 11 touchdowns while completing 51% of his passes. He also ran for 131 yards and eight touchdowns on 46 carries.

Gavin Espinoza, Croswell-Lexington, Junior — Espinoza threw for 1,612 yards and 21 touchdowns against seven interceptions. In addition to completing 48.8% of his passes, he also ran for 452 yards and eight touchdowns on 74 carries.

Jeffery Heaslip, Marine City, Senior — Heaslip threw for 817 yards and nine touchdowns against three interceptions. He completed 58.2% of his passes, while also rushing for 499 yards and eight touchdowns on 78 carries.

Running backs

Chase Battani, Almont, Sophomore — Battani ran for 928 yards (9.5 per attempt) and 11 touchdowns on 97 carries.

Kyle Coenen, Armada, Senior — Coenen rushed for 1,614 yards (7.1 per attempt) and 12 touchdowns on 229 carries.

Bryce Ferman, Almont, Senior — Ferman totaled 651 yards (9.7 per attempt) and nine touchdowns on 67 carries.

Gabriel Groppi, Croswell-Lexington, Junior — Groppi amassed 1,074 yards (8.8 per attempt) and nine touchdowns on 122 carries.

Brendan Haisenleder, Cardinal Mooney, Senior — Haisenleder ran for 2,302 yards (9.1 per attempt) and 28 touchdowns on 253 carries, all of which were single-season school records. He also caught six passes for 91 yards and two touchdowns.

Matthew Measel, Almont, Senior — Measel rushed for 544 yards and seven touchdowns. He also finished with 303 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Hayden Prone, Port Huron Northern, Senior — Prone finished with 687 yards (5.2 per attempt) and seven touchdowns on 133 carries.

Anthony Ruffino, Marine City, Senior — Ruffino totaled 563 yards (5.3 per attempt) and seven touchdowns on 106 carries. He also had 15 receptions for 241 yards and one touchdown.

Carter Saccucci, Marysville, Senior — Saccucci ran for 1,150 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Gavin Troy, Port Huron, Junior Troy rushed for 1,034 yards (9.8 per attempt) and 11 touchdowns on 105 carries.

Receivers/Tight ends

Jaiden Ashford, Port Huron, Senior — Ashford reeled in 28 catches for 448 yards and eight touchdowns.

Parker Atkinson, Marine City, Junior — Atkinson finished with 34 receptions for 642 yards and seven touchdowns.

Trevor Soule, Croswell-Lexington, Senior — Soule caught 28 passes for 590 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Benny Mendoza, Croswell-Lexington, Senior

Joey Ramsey, Croswell-Lexington, Junior

Defensive backs

Logan Ellis, St. Clair, Senior — Ellis recorded 33 tackles (three for loss) and had six interceptions. He also finished with two fumble recoveries and one sack.

Noah Harris, Richmond, Senior

Nolan Moore, Croswell-Lexington, Senior — Moore totaled 18 tackles (10 solo, eight assisted) and one interception.

Linebackers

Alex Armstrong, Port Huron Northern, Senior — Armstrong totaled 83 tackles (39 solo, 44 assisted) and one sack. He also blocked five punts and recovered two fumbles.

Ayden Ferqueron, Almont, Junior — Ferqueron finished with 94 tackles (29 solo, 65 assisted) and four sacks. He also had one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

Tyler Filinger, Almont, Senior — Filinger made 96 tackles (29 solo, 67 assisted) and five sacks. He also forced one fumble and had one defensive touchdown.

Cole O'Kroy, Marine City, Senior — O'Kroy amassed 80 tackles (25 solo, 55 assisted) and one sack. He also recovered one fumble.

Brock Osterland, Marine City, Senior — Osterland finished with 101 tackles (38 solo, 63 assisted) and two sacks.

Kaden Proctor, Yale, Senior — Proctor finished with a team-high 101 tackles (73 solo, 28 assisted) and seven sacks. He also recovered two fumbles.

Bodie Ramsey, Marine City, Junior — Ramsey made 107 tackles (32 solo, 75 assisted) and two sacks. He also had one interception.

Joey Scaramuzzino, Croswell-Lexington, Junior — Scaramuzzino totaled 112 tackles (48 solo, 64 assisted) and recovered one fumble.

Tyler Simpson, Marysville, Senior — Simpson had 60 tackles, two sacks and two fumble recoveries.

Lukas Sleboda, Armada, Senior — Sleboda recorded 65 tackles (six for loss) and 3.5 sacks. He also had three interceptions, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

Edge

Landon Butler, Croswell-Lexington, Senior — Butler made 56 tackles (24 solo, 32 assisted) and recovered one fumble.

Luke Fletcher, Port Huron Northern, Senior — Fletcher finished with 35 tackles (18 solo, 17 assisted) and 5.5 sacks. He recovered two fumbles, forced one fumble and blocked one punt.

Andrew Nasr, Cardinal Mooney, Junior — Nasr totaled 104 tackles (54 solo, 50 assisted) and three sacks.

Antonio Nedelkovski, Almont, Senior — Nedelkovski made 36 tackles (seven for loss) and had four sacks. He also forced three fumbles.

Caden Rogers, Port Huron, Senior — Rogers finished with 60 tackles (14 for loss) and 8.5 sacks. He also recovered three fumbles.

Defensive lineman

Noah Maiuri, Port Huron, Junior — Maiuri made 34 tackles (seven for loss) and had one sack.

Danny Moore, Port Huron Northern, Junior — Moore compiled 59 tackles (31 solo, 18 assisted) and three sacks. He also recovered four fumbles and blocked a punt.

Latham Perry, Imlay City, Senior
