The No.1 ranked LSU Tigers put up a solid performance this past weekend in College Station at the SEC Track and Field Conference Meet.

The team won seven event titles on the final day of the competition with the women claiming a second-place finish and the men taking third.

On the track:

The women’s and men’s 4×100 meter relays posted two elite performances to begin the night. The women’s team — Tonea Marshall, Favour Ofili, Symone Mason, Thelma Davis — clocked a winning time of 42.52 finishing body lengths ahead of the rest of the field while also securing a world-leading time.

On the men’s side — Dylan Peebles, Noah Williams, Dorian Camel and Terrance Laird — won with a 38.87 in what came down to the final stretch with Laird managing to pull ahead. LSU has won both the men and women 4×100 since 2015, with no end of losing their streak in sight.

Not only did Terrance Laird show out for the Tigers in the final leg of the relay, he also won titles in the 100 meters and 200 meters.

His triple sweep consisted of a blistering 9.80 seconds in the 100-meter dash and he continued to light it up with a 19.82 in the 200 meters breaking Justin Gatlin’s SEC meet record from 2002. Laird’s spicy time of 9.80 marks him as the fifth-fastest time in collegiate history.

He now owns the fourth and fifth fastest collegiate 200-meter times with his 19.81 and 19.82. Laird didn’t come to play, and the times he posted this past weekend are most definitely no joke.

For the women, Brittley Humphrey, Milan Young, Jurnee Woodward and Leah Phillips racked up a significant 37 points between the 100 and 400-meter hurdle events.

Humphrey won her first-ever SEC title with a season best time of 56.14 in the 400-meter hurdles.

Young took second, Woodward got fourth, and Phillips locked in the sixth place position. Tonea Marshall also won her first career individual title in the 100 hurdles with an impressive time of 12.62 seconds-making her LSU’s first SEC champ in that event since 2012.

Men’s hurdlers had themselves a day with two runner-up finishes totaling 23 points. The team of Damion Thomas, Eric Edwards Jr. and Arthur Price III racked up 15 points, and Sean ‘Squirrel’ Burrell just missed out on his first SEC title running a personal best of 48.92 in the 400-meter hurdles.

On the distance side — Katy-Ann McDonald and Lorena Rangel put up 11 points in the 800-meter run placing second and sixth respectively. Davis Bove just missed scoring with a personal best of 3:44.18 awarding his ninth place overall.

Symone Mason put up 14 points individually in the 100 and 200 meters placing second in the 100 meters and third in the 200 meters just shortly after. Favour Ofili and Thelma Davies also got their names on the board with second and seventh place finishes in the 200 meters.

On the field:

Abigail O’Donoghue and Nyagoa Bayak took fourth and fifth in the jumps. Sean Dixon-Bodie made his SEC outdoor triple jump debut with a bound of 53’ 7.75”.

The meet concluded with the team of Symone Mason, Amber Anning, Milan Young, and Favour Ofili placing fifth in the 4×400 meter relay with a time of 3:31.73.

With the Tiger’s stellar SEC performance they’re primed and ready to roar at outdoor Nationals coming up next month — just enough time to get their legs properly rested to show out.
