THURSDAY'S GIRLS' BASKETBALL MATCHUPS

Edgewood (17-4) at Owen Valley (10-13)

GAME TIME: 6 p.m.

COACHES: Gary Sims, 215-126 in 14th year at Edgewood. Trace Temples, 84-63 in 6th year at Owen Valley.

LAST OUTING: Edgewood defeated Bloomington North, 42-38. Owen Valley defeated White River Valley, 53-47.

SERIES LAST 20 YEARS: Owen Valley, 18-14.

LAST MEETING: Edgewood, 40-21, Jan. 15, 2021.

OUTLOOK: After two weeks without a game, Edgewood got its sea legs back Tuesday in a physical, fast game at North. This rescheduled game will wrap up the regular season for both squads. Edgewood's defense is giving up 32 ppg and will have to focus on slowing junior Reagan Martin (18 ppg, 8.6 rpg). Freshman Madi Kay adds 8 ppg, 5 rpg and Kyndall Drake comes in at 6.2 ppg. Mustangs are 6-3 in WIC play and OV is 4-5.

Lighthouse Christian (5-10) at Washington Catholic (4-12)

GAME TIME: 6:30 p.m.

COACHES: Brian Brown, 15-44 in 3rd year at Lighthouse. Karie Craney, 4-12 in 1st year at Catholic.

LAST OUTING: Lighthouse lost to Cannelton, 43-32. Washington Catholic defeated Dugger Union, 40-23.

SERIES LAST 20 YEARS: Tied, 3-3.

LAST MEETING: Catholic, 50-48, Jan. 30, 2021.

OUTLOOK: Lighthouse had to drop another game on Monday due to low roster numbers and hopes to squeeze this one in before the Southern Roads Tournament on Saturday. The Cardinals average just 24.5 ppg and have been held under 20 seven times.

Eastern Greene (16-5) at Clay City (2-19)

GAME TIME: 7:30 p.m.

COACHES: Greg Burton, 40-44 in 4th year at Eastern Greene. Jason Sinders, 15-68 in 4th year at Clay City.

LAST OUTING: Eastern Greene lost to Bloomington South, 50-44. Clay City lost to Northview, 61-38.

SERIES LAST 20 YEARS: Eastern Greene, 15-7.

LAST MEETING: Eastern Greene, 47-36, Jan. 30, 2020.

OUTLOOK: Just one more game for Eastern to complete a sweep of the SWIAC. The T-Birds have gone 4-4 over their last eight and are looking to head into sectional on an upswing. The Eels had lost 11 straight against the a 3A heavy portion of their schedule before tripping up Dugger Union.

Bloomington North (9-12) at Terre Haute North (16-7)

GAME TIME: 7:30 p.m.

COACHES: Jeff Turmail, 33-80 in 5th year at Bloomington North. Nathan Dillion, 16-7 in 1st year at TH North.

LAST OUTING: Bloomington North lost to Edgewood, 42-38. TH North defeated Cloverdale, 60-21.

SERIES LAST 20 YEARS: TH North, 9-8.

LAST MEETING: TH North, 51-50, Jan. 29, 2021.

OUTLOOK: Cougars hit the road after a tough home loss to finish up Conference Indiana play. They'll have to deal with one of the state's most potent scorers in Murray State signee Zoe Stewart. The 5-9 senior is pouring in 24 ppg and raised her school single game scoring record to 45 this season.
