Three hitters who can provide serious fantasy value right now

At this point in the fantasy baseball season, it’s time to gear up for the playoffs. That means finding and pinpointing the weaknesses in your categories, and seeing if there’s any available help on the waiver wire to strengthen these deficiencies.

Well, Scott Pianowski offers up three hitters who can help in that department.

First up, we have our old friend Kyle Seager. Many wrote Seager off this season, but he has been making serious noise in August. His OPS in the month is a gaudy 1.200 — a number no fantasy gamer wouldn’t like. Like most Seattle hitters, you want him for the production he can provide on the road — Seager has a .585 slugging percentage away from home this season. He should be rostered in all 10-12-team leagues.

Next is Nick Ahmed, who has been quietly flying under the radar as a five-category contributor in fantasy for the D-backs. He’s been playing at an All-Star level of late — already has more homers than he did in 2018, is walking as much as he strikes out, and is running more of late — and Scott thinks he should be rostered in 70-80 percent of leagues.

Finally, we have Delino DeShields Jr., and you want him for his speed. As mentioned above, we’re trying to strengthen our categories. What DeShields lacks in batting average he makes up for in speed, and Scott thinks the Ranger has anywhere between 15-20 stolen bases left in him for the remainder of the season. Go get him!
