The sleigh is in the store and ready for Santa who will be at Board and Batten from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7. Bring the kiddos (and even well behaved pets) in for photos with St. Nick while enjoying some eggnog, cookies and maybe a surprise or two.

2022 Festival of Trees Latino Night - Festival de Arboles Noche Latina

Hometown Heritage at the Carnegie Library Museum and Hispanics United for Perry will present the 2022 Festival de Arboles Noche Latina (2022 Festival of Trees Latino Night) from 6-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8. The Carnegie Library Museum will be open extended hours for visitors to view the Festival of Trees and enjoy a scavenger hunt for families. This event is free and open to all.

Perry's Peppermint Walk is this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, featuring 25 Perry businesses ready to help you wrap up your holiday shopping! Join the Adel Chamber of Commerce, Indianola Chamber of Commerce and the Madison County Chamber of Commerce for a one-of-a-kind holiday themed shopping trip on from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9 and 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10. Open Play Pickleball

6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9 at McCreary Center, Perry.

Friday nights in December the Perry Picklers and McCreary Center are hosting open play pickleball to teach the game to beginners and provide court time to more experienced players. All equipment is provided, so bring your court shoes, gym clothes and a big smile to join us. Instruction and coaching will be provided by experienced players. Not a McCreary Center member? No problem. $2 per person will get you playing each night (members are free). All ages and experience levels are welcome to join the fun on Friday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. in December.

Pictures with Santa & Breakfast

Adel Scout Troop 152 will serve pancakes at the Adel Fire Station from 7:30-10:30 a.m. Get your picture taken with Santa from 8- 10 a.m. A free-will donation will be taken with proceeds going to support the Adel Fire Department and Boy Scout Troop 152.

T-Mobile Hometown Grant and Lite Brite Celebration

8:30-11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 at Adel Public Library.

T-Mobile is celebrating the Hometown Grant they awarded to Adel Partners Chamber and Adel Rotary to complete Rotary Plaza on RRVT. They are bringing a 25-foot Lite Brite display to Adel. Start the morning with Breakfast with Santa at the fire station. Then come to the Adel Library to light the Lite Brite. There will be photo opps and FREE goodies! The formal presentation and lighting the display is at 10:15.

Christmas Bird Count

9-10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 at Forest Park Museum, Perry.

Have you heard of the Christmas Bird Count but weren’t sure what it was or thought it was for academics only? Dallas County Conservation Board is always looking for the next person to get excited about birding. This will be an informal question and answer session for folks who are new to the CBC. DCCB will discuss protocols and review trickier identification. Think that it’s too cold to be out on a blustery winter day? We also need feeder watchers. You can be an armchair ornithologist and share what you saw from the comfort of your own home. Woodward Public Library Fundraiser

9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 at Woodward Public Library.

The Woodward Public Library's annual fundraiser will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10. Proceeds from the cookie and candy sales will go to purchasing puppets, flannel board stories and supplies for all youth service activities for children, teens and families.

The annual Vendor & Craft Fair at Grace Lutheran Church in Adel will be held from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10. Shop local artisans with handmade jewelry, home and seasonal décor and more! Tastefully Simple, Scentsy. and other in-demand vendors will also be on display. Breakfast and lunch specials will be available for purchase and door prizes will be drawn throughout the day. And don't miss the annual bake sale featuring homemade goodies from some of the best bakers in town. All proceeds from the bake sale will go to the Good Samaritan Food Pantry.

Free Christmas Movies

Free Christmas movies are back at Perry Grand 3 Theatres. The free movies, sponsored by local businesses, will be shows at 11 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays throughout December. The next movie shown will be "Elf" on Dec. 10-11.

TUBACHRISTMAS

The Perry Fine Arts Series will be presenting TUBACHRISTMAS for the first time at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10 at the Perry First United Methodist Church. Come and join us for great Christmas music. TUBACHRISTMAS was conceived in 1974 by Harvey Phillips as a tribute to his teacher and mentor William J. Bell, born on Christmas Day, 1902. Through the legendary William J. Bell, we reflect on our heritage and honor all great artists/teachers whose legacy has given us high performance standards, well-structured pedagogy, professional integrity, personal values and a camaraderie envied by all other instrumentalists.

Nature Adapts to Winter

Fall Market #3

The fall season of the Perry Farmers Market continues and just in time to stock up before Christmas! The final fall market will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17. These markets will be limited to 5-8 vendors per market but are expected to have a wide variety of offerings, including seasonal produce, jams and jellies, fresh baked goods and handcrafted items. Free Grapes from the Healthy Steps Outreach Program

10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17 at Perry Public Library Community Room.

On Dec. 17, the Perry Farmers Market will offer a selection of local goods at The Perry Public Library. The Healthy Steps Outreach program will join them by giving away delicious one-pound bags of red grapes to attendees. Healthy Steps is a partnership between the Perry Public Library, Tyson Foods, The Perry Chamber of Commerce and Farm Credit Services of America. Their goal is to offer delicious, healthy produce from local vendors as part of their food outreach program. Community members are invited to attend the farmers market from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Dec. 17 to receive one pound of free red grapes. For questions, please contact the library at 515-465-3569.

Festival of Trees

The Festival of Trees is back for its eighth year, and it’s time to celebrate in person again. From Nov. 22 to Jan. 8, the Carnegie Library Museum will transform into a merry wonderland, with beautifully decorated themed trees and festive displays installed by individuals, businesses, and organizations, all designed to put us in the holiday spirit.
