The Five Pointer: Adam Gemili misses out on a World Athletics Championship medal

The second round of Champions League group games took place last night and Tottenham suffered a humiliating defeat at home to Bayern Munich.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side were beaten 7-2 by the German champions and after the match the Spurs’ players were united in their assessment of the game, calling it ‘embarrassing’.

Manchester City beat Dinamo Zagreb 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium but struggled to get past their opponent’s back line until substitute Raheem Sterling scored the opening goal on 66 minutes.

City boss Pep Guardiola thinks the 24-year-old can get even better.

To boxing and Joseph Parker has pulled out of his fight with Derek Chisora at the 02 Arena on the 26th October due to illness. The fight had made plenty of headlines after Chisora kicked off in a press conference for not being the main event of the show.

The British fighter will now be looking for a replacement so that his fight can still go ahead.

Andy Murray continued his injury comeback by reaching the quarter-finals of the China Open.

The former world number one beat fellow British player Cameron Norrie in the second round of the competition. Murray completed the 7-6, 6-7, 6-1 win in just under three hours and will take on Zhang Zhizhen in the next round.

And finally to the World Athletics Championships and British sprinter Adam Gemili said he ‘ran like an amateur’ after missing out on a medal in the 200 metres in Doha.

Gemili finished fourth after setting two season’s best times in the build up to the final of the competition, but the 25-year-old couldn’t replicate that form when it mattered, with Noah Lyles of the USA taking the gold.
