When Doctor Who showrunner Chris Chibnell took over the reigns of the BBC's flagship sci-fi show, he kept the classic Whovian baddies at arms length in his first season.

And they look like they could do with a wee spritz of WD-40, to be fair.

“Something's coming for me,” says Jodie Whittaker's The Doctor. “I can feel it.” And she's probably right.

The epic trailer is heavy on action, with explosions, terrifying-looking robot arachnids, bats, tears and a gleeful Lenny Henry discharging a handgun from the window of a moving vehicle.

The Rhino-esque aliens the Judoon are back too, along with the Doctor's sidekicks Ryan (Tosin Cole), Yasmin (Mandip Gill) and Graham (Bradley Walsh).

Hurl in some customary historical landmarks – notably wartime Paris – and we've got all the hallmarks of a fine series, coming in early 2020.
