In 2016, I became a member of the Lenawee Cares advisory board. As we near the completion of our 2022 campaign and I reflect on all that Lenawee Cares has done over the past seven years, it is a great time to say thanks!

Thanks to all of our individual, business and corporate donors. Thanks to our Pillars (donors who contributed $1,000 or more annually). Thanks to the Lenawee Cares advisory board, the Lenawee Community Foundation board and staff. Thanks to the numerous organizations that have allowed us to make presentations to your staff or employees. Thanks to Country Market for allowing us to annually bag groceries the Friday before Thanksgiving, and thanks to their customers that tip us so generously. Thanks to those of you who believed in us back in 2016 when we first introduced Lenawee Cares and this new venture to provide food, clothing, shelter and other essential support service for some of our neighbors most in need.

Thanks as well to Lenawee’s dedicated nonprofit organizations that welcomed our efforts to partner with them by providing some of the financial resources needed to fulfill their mission, enabling their clients to have a better life. We at Lenawee Cares are honored to support the work you are doing. Thank you for being there and for caring so passionately.

Food for the hungry; shelter for the homeless; counseling for children and adults suffering the traumas of abuse, neglect or unhealthy dependencies; social, recreational and educational opportunities for clients of HOPE; a safe and productive after-school environment for Boys & Girls Club members; preschool programing for children from low-income families; legal assistance for those unable to afford an attorney — these are just some of the things your annual donation to Lenawee Cares makes possible.

One hundred percent of what you donate stays in Lenawee County. You can designate your donation to any Lenawee 501(c)(3) organization, or our Lenawee Cares board will carefully review the requests submitted by our local nonprofits and invest your dollars where they are needed most.

Our 2022 Lenawee Cares campaign wraps up in the next couple of weeks. Thanks, if you have already made your gift, and thanks as well if you will be sending your gift soon. Checks can be mailed to Lenawee Cares, 1440 W. Maumee St., Adrian, MI 49221.

We truly have a lot to give thanks for this holiday season. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of so many.
