Troy Omeire appears to be on his way out of Austin. He tweeted his desire to find a new school on Tuesday.

The highly talented receiver never truly got the opportunity to showcase his ability due to injuries.

Omeire flashed athleticism and pass catching skills in what little action we saw. He figures to be a difference maker wherever he plays next season.

The big-bodied talent didn’t seem to fit Steve Sarkisian’s scheme or type.

Sarkisian prizes twitchy, speedy receivers like Devonta Smith, Xavier Worthy and Brenen Thompson. Even so, Texas fans would have liked to see Omeire find a place in the offense.

Recent portal activity, real or imagined, leads one to believe Texas could look vastly different at receiver. Let’s look at what the Longhorns should prioritize for the position.

Prioritize Xavier Worthy

Xavier Worthy must be a priority for Texas. The elite talent has produced at an extraordinarily high level for the Longhorns. The team needs to do everything it can to bring him back.

Always add talent

Adding another talented receiver to Isaiah Neyor may make Worthy want to stay. More than that, the team can always improve. Competition will bring the best out of the receiver room. There are a few talented in-state pass catchers who could find a change of scenery appealing.

Improve QB production

I’m unwavering in my belief in Quinn Ewers. I expect him to become a consistent performer. For receivers to perform well they’ll need Ewers to grow this offseason.

Invest in young talent

JaTavion Sanders and Brenen Thompson should see their roles increase within the offense. The offense might run through Sanders at times next season depending on matchups defenses present.

Rumors of player exits might make Texas more appealing for recruits seeking playing time. It’s possible Johntay Cook and Ryan Niblett could see immediate playing time and starting opportunities.
