Temporary lane closures on I-95 bridge over next 3 weeks

PORTSMOUTH - Temporary lane closures will be required on the I-95 bridge during the next three weeks.

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation will be conducting an in-depth inspection of the Piscataqua River Bridge carrying Interstate 95 over the river between Portsmouth, N.H., and Kittery, Maine. The inspection is scheduled to begin Monday, Dec. 5 and continue on a Monday through Friday schedule until the inspection is complete or through Friday, Dec. 23.

The bridge will have a right lane and right shoulder closure as needed and as weather permits from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. I-95 Northbound will have closures the week of Dec. 5 to 9. I-95 Southbound will have closures the week of Dec. 12 to 16. Lane closures scheduled for the week of Dec. 19 to 23 will consist of I-95 Northbound and Southbound depending on remaining work that is left to complete.

Traffic Control, State Police and warning signs will be used to notify motorists of the lane closure. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes if possible to avoid delays. In the event of adverse weather, the inspection work may be delayed until the next suitable workday.
