Teenager shot, killed at McDonald's on York Street in Aiken

Dec. 4—A fatal shooting occurred at an Aiken McDonald's on Friday night, leaving a teenager dead.

The Aiken Department of Public Safety responded to the restaurant, located at 1157 York St., at approximately 7 p.m. Friday in reference to a shooting, according to a news release.

Upon arrival, officers found Thaj Nance-Parker, 16, with a gunshot wound, according to the Aiken County Coroner's Office. Nance-Parker was lying in the parking lot, and EMS responded to the scene. Nance-Parker was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later, according to the report.

The incident report listed 10 names under "others involved" and also showed that 18 officers responded.

A sign on the restaurant's door states it will be closed until 6 a.m. Monday.

Public Safety investigators are actively continuing this investigation, but no suspect information is available at this time, according to the release.

It is unknown if the shooting was gang-related, according to the incident report.

Nance-Parker will be autopsied in Newberry, according to the coroner's office.
