ALLENDALE — A 19-year-old woman was hospitalized with a leg injury after a hit and run early Sunday morning near Grand Valley State University, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office.

At around 3:45 Sunday morning, deputies responded to a single-vehicle accident with injures on West Campus Drive, west of 48th Avenue in Allendale Township. After a brief investigation, the Sheriff's Office determined that an unknown person was driving a Dodge avenger east on West Campus Drive and lost control of the car on the icy road and crashed into a tree.

The driver fled the scene on foot, but the passenger in the vehicle, a 19-year-old woman from Flint, suffered a significant leg injury. Sher was taken to Spectrum Hospital and is in stable condition, according to deputies. No other vehicles or people were involved in this crash. The investigation remains ongoing.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Grand Valley State University Public Safety, Allendale Township Fire and Rescue and LIFE EMS.

The Sheriff's Office was unable to locate the driver of the car. They're asking that anybody with information about the incident call Silent Observer at 877-887-4536.
