TEA released school scorecards. Here's how CCISD and South Texas schools rank.

Across the Coastal Bend, nearly half of schools received a B rating from the Texas Education Agency during the past school year.

The TEA released state accountability ratings Monday. The ratings take into account how much students are learning in each grade, whether or not they are ready for the next grade, and how well schools prepare students to enter college, the workforce, or the military after high school.

The state had not compiled accountability scores for two years due to pandemic interruptions.

Across the region, 47% of campuses received a B rating, with 23% receiving an A, and 24% receiving a C.

Generally, most high schools, 61%, received a B rating, and nearly half of middle schools, 49%, received a C rating.

Districts with A ratings include Banquete ISD, Bishop ISD, Flour Bluff ISD, London ISD, Sinton ISD, and Port Aransas ISD.

Corpus Christi ISD

Corpus Christi ISD received a score of 85, or a B rating, during the 2021-22 school year. This includes a score of 82 on student achievement, based on standardized testing, and graduation rates, and 87 on school progress, based on how the district compares to other districts with similar populations of economically disadvantaged students. The district's "closing the gaps" score was 81.

Over 30 district campuses earned at least one distinction designation, with Windsor Park and Woodlawn Elementary schools earning all eligible distinctions for their schools.

One district school, Browne Middle School, received a "Not rated" designation, which is given when a score is less than 70. According to a Monday news release, district officials will provide Browne with intensive support and guidance this year. The district implemented a similar initiative after Haas Middle School received a F rating in 2019. Haas now has a C rating.
