Tasting menus at Palm Beach restaurants add flavor to dinner
In addition to the regular dinner menus at Café Boulud, there’s another one available nightly by special request.
It’s a six-course tasting menu that’s expected to generate inquiries around Valentine’s Day.
The special menu by executive chef Dieter Samijn and his team typically features recent raved-about daily specials, but it may also include a new dish or a longtime favorite at Café Boulud (www.cafeboulud.com/palmbeach), which is located at The Brazilian Court.
The six-course tasting menu at the French restaurant is $125 a person. Sommelier-selected wine pairings for the meal cost $75 to $125.
For guests who have dietary restriction or follow special diets, making advance reservations for Café Boulud’s tasting menu is a must.
Elsewhere in town, pan-Asian eatery Echo (www.thebreakers.com/dining/echo) offers its own version of a tasting menu. It’s called a chef’s sharing menu: Eight dishes — some of Echo’s most popular items — are served family-style for two or more diners to enjoy.
The sharing menu at Echo, 230 Sunrise Ave, is $85 a person.
Among the dishes are a California sushi roll topped with baked spicy conch or shrimp; kung pao lettuce wraps; and Peking duck bao buns. Other dishes include chicken pad Thai; fried rice with char-siu pork; miso sea bass with bok choy and bonita flakes; and kalbi Wagyu flatiron steak with stir-fried vegetables and bulgogi marinade.
Look for a dessert soufflé as the sweet ending.
