Tarrant County College names interim leader as chancellor

The Tarrant County College Board of Trustees have removed “interim” from the title of its chancellor.

Elva LeBlanc was named sixth chancellor of the Tarrant County College District on Thursday. She was named the lone finalist on Nov. 5.

“This is an incredible honor—one I don’t take lightly,” LeBlanc in a release. “I look forward to continuing to serve our students and community along with our remarkable faculty and staff. TCC has so much to offer and makes a tremendous difference in our students’ lives daily.”

LeBlanc had served as acting and interim chancellor following the resignation of Eugene Giovannini in June. The board had voted 6-0, with one member not present, to fire Giovannini in February.

Giovannini was placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into the accusations that he harassed, abused and retaliated against a former employee of TCC.

LeBlanc had continued her role as executive vice chancellor and provost while serving as interim chancellor.

LeBlanc has over 25 years of experience in higher education administration. She served as president of Galveston College and president of TCC’s Northwest Campus. She holds bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of North Texas.

TCC has six campusus and an enrollment of 43,459.
