Today, Target announced that it's adding new safety measures designed to help keep customers and employees safe amid the global pandemic this holiday season. The newest features build on the safety measures Target has been implementing since March.

So what are the new options? You can use Target app’s "Wallet" mobile payment option to pay contact-free at self-checkout stations. You also have the option to skip the checkout line since Target is equipping its employees with 1,000 more handheld MyCheckout devices at stores across the country, so you can checkout from anywhere throughout the store. You can even see if there's a line outside the store by visiting Target's Save Your Spot page, which also lets you instantly reserve a spot if there is one.

Target says its also making its same-day services faster and safer. One new service update is doubling the number of Drive Up spots, which means adding an additional 8,000 parking spots across the country. Additionally, Target is making the Drive Up service more socially distant by getting rid of the barcode scan. Instead, you just have to show their app with the personal ID number through your car window. Plus, you can easily adjust your preference between Order Pickup and Drive Up in real time. With these enhanced services, you'll be able to get your purchase contact-free in as soon as an hour. And you don't even need to pay a membership fee.

“As we approach the holidays, guests can feel confident in choosing Target—a safe experience, incredible value, and a differentiated assortment that will help them celebrate the joy of the season," Target CEO Brian Cornell said in a news release.
