Tale of the Tape: Leading Rushers – Kyren Williams vs. Chez Mellusi

·1 min read

The battle between the leading rushers for Notre Dame and Wisconsin could decide Saturday’s clash at Soldier Field. While Kyren Williams has not looked as formidable as he did last year to this point, it doesn’t mean he won’t become that again. If nothing else, he has shown how he can catch short passes and turn those into big gains with his speed and ability to avoid tacklers. Don’t be surprised if one of those plays turns the game in the Irish’s favor.

The Badgers have gotten what asked for when Chez Mellusi transferred from Clemson. Mellusi, who got one carry apiece in the two games the Irish and Tigers met in 2020, has made the most of his new opportunity. Don’t expect him to catch many passes from Graham Mertz because that simply isn’t part of the Badgers’ game plan. However, he may not need to do that with how well he has run the ball thus far.
