More than 40 area children have been hard at work over the past few months putting together the Cambridge Performing Arts Centers' youth production of "Wonka, Jr."

The musical is based on the classic movie "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory." Enigmatic candy mogul Willy Wonka offers only five golden tickets to tour his candy factory and receive a lifetime supply of the company's sweet confections.

Forty-seven youth from the Cambridge, Byesville, Barnesville, New Concord, and Caldwell areas have been running lines, learning their marks, and practicing songs for the show since June. With three rehearsals a week, it's been an all-summer production.

Two of the main roles, Willy Wonka and humble but loveable ticket winner, Charlie Bucket, will be portrayed by Dominik Ebright and Josiah Cutlip, respectively. The cast consists of kids of all ages, from 5 years old to 17.

The show is running at 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, Aug. 12, 13, 19 and 20. For those who prefer an earlier show, a Sunday matinee performance will be at 3 p.m. Aug. 14 and 21. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the box office on the day of the show one hour prior to curtain call, next door at Bookology or online at www.cambridgetheater.org.
