Sustainable Resilient Longmont invites residents to Oct. 3 Electric Vehicle Fair

Sep. 26—Sustainable Resilient Longmont, a local environmental activist organization, is inviting area residents to check out what it says are the benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid cars, trucks, motorcycles and bicycles during an Oct. 3 Longmont EV Fair at the Boulder County Fairgrounds, 9595 Nelson Road, Longmont.

The organization said on its website, srlongmont.org, that Gebhardt BMW and the Colorado Renewable Energy Society are its partners in the 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. event , which is part of National Drive Electric Week, through Oct. 3. According to a news release, other sponsors, vendors and participating dealerships include the city of Longmont, the Platte River Power Authority, Namasté Solar, Valley Nissan, Greeneyed Motors, Small Planet Bikes, the Citizens' Climate Lobby, Drive Electric Colorado, Eco-Cycle, Freedom Folding Bikes, Longmont Food Rescue, the Sierra Club, Ecomark Solar and Women Who Charge.

Those "considering going electric" can attend the fair "to learn from owners who have done so," Sustainable Resilient Longmont said. "We will be showcasing new and used electric cars, electric bikes and privately owned EVs in a festival atmosphere. Activities include food trucks, music, fun activities and lots of info on driving and owning an EV."

"We know that buying an electric car can seem more complicated than buying a vehicle powered by gas or diesel, so we will have experts onsite to help potential EV buyers understand how to charge and service their vehicles. But the real highlight of this event is interacting with EV owners to learn about their experiences owning and driving electric cars."
