Suspended former Raiders, Steelers WR Martavis Bryant joins CFL

Former Pittsburgh Steelers and Oakland Raiders wide receiver Martavis Bryant has signed with the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts.
The Argonauts announced the news on Monday.
Bryant hasn’t played in the NFL since the league handed down an indefinite suspension in December 2018 while he was a member of the Raiders. Bryant had previously been suspended the entire 2016 season for violating the league's substance abuse policy as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was also suspended four games during his rookie season in 2014 for a substance-abuse violation.
His latest suspension was for violating the conditional terms of his reinstatement from his previous suspension.
Bryant showed promise with Steelers
He was conditionally reinstated in 2017 and played his third and final season with the Steelers before Pittsburgh traded him to Oakland for a third-round pick. JuJu Smith-Schuster emerged in Bryant’s role as Pittsburgh’s No. 2 receiver alongside Antonio Brown when Bryant missed the 2016 season.
Bryant caught 126 passes for 1,917 yards and 17 touchdowns in three seasons in Pittsburgh before struggling in a 19-catch, 266 yard campaign through 12 games with the Raiders.
According to NFL Network, Bryant declined to apply for reinstatement with the league prior to the start of the 2020 season.
