Summer heat has us in the mood for ice cream

We were treated to a preview of summer this weekend, with temperatures flirting with 90 degrees and above — even though Memorial Day is still more than a week away.

With the heat in mind, it's worth thinking about some of those great North Jersey ice cream places. You know the ones I mean. The ones that you went to as a kid; and then took your kids to; and then your grandkids. Those places.

Bischoff's. Conrad's. VanDyk's.

Food writer Rebecca King has a great round up of all those and more to help cool you off on this warm, pre-summer day.

And if that has you thinking about food, Rebecca teamed up with Esther Davidowitz to check out six new restaurants across North Jersey. It's a great time to check them out.

Another great escape from the heat is to check out a movie. There's nothing like an ice-cold theater when taking in a new film.

In Clifton, however, one of the old standbys is slated for the wrecking ball. Writer Matt Fagan tells you what might be coming next to the site of the Allwood Cinemas.

I hope you enjoyed this blast of summer and managed to stay cool as well.
