May 18—A Shillington man who was wanted in the stabbing of a man in Exeter Township over the weekend was in Berks County Prison on Wednesday after he was apprehended by police with the help of a tip.
Joshua Garman, 30, was taken into custody without incident Tuesday at a Wyomissing motel by Wyomissing and West Reading police, Sgt. Sean Fullerton, Exeter police public information officer, said Wednesday.
Garman of the 1000 block of Fern Avenue was jailed in lieu of $20,000 bail to await a hearing following arraignment before District Judge Carissa L. Johnson in Reading Central Court.
Exeter police obtained an arrest warrant for Garman on Sunday on charges of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.
Investigators said Garman stabbed the 29-year-old victim with a knife from the front passenger seat of a car about 5:30 p.m. Sunday on Keystone Road in the Lincolnwood manufactured home community off of Lincoln Road.
The victim told police that he watched his girlfriend get into the back seat of the car occupied by Garman and another man, who was in the driver's seat. The victim approached the car and as he walked along the passenger side, Garman reached out and stabbed him in the neck.
The victim said no words were exchanged before the assault, but Garman said immediately after, "Yeah I just stabbed you... ." before the car left the area.
The victim ran to a nearby home where someone gave him a towel to control the bleeding from a puncture wound at the center of the front of his neck. He was taken by ambulance to Reading Hospital, where a doctor treated the wound with stitches then called 911.
