Steve Harvey never fails to make folks laugh on Family Feud. Though the host knows how popular his game show is around the world, he was still blown away when fans instantly recognized its theme song.

Ahead of his latest TV show Judge Steve Harvey premiering on ABC, he stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show and reflected on his career on the small screen. Steve opened up to Ellen DeGeneres about a story that brought fans to tears. The 65-year-old Ohio native recounted unexpectedly crossing paths with singer Elton John during a trip to France. After the two said a warm hello, people around them took notice and the establishment gave Steve a nod.

"The DJ in the south of France started playing the Family Feud theme song, and everybody in that restaurant knew that song, and I started crying,” Steve recalled.

When one of his daughters him asked why he was moved to tears, Steve revealed that he was thinking about his humble beginnings. “Because I’m a hood guy. I'm from Cleveland. I come from nothing," he said. "These people are doing the Family Feud theme song in the south of France. I went to Glenville High School. I have a d— diploma. It just messed me up, man.”

Family Feud fans watching on YouTube loved hearing Steve's story and many shared their thoughts in the comments section. “Always so humble and never forgets where he came from. ❤️," one person wrote. Steve has worked super hard in life and deserves ALL THE SUCCESS AND LOVE ❤️," another added. "What a touching story. I'm not crying, you're crying," a different fan said.

The Celebrity Family Feud star has previously spoken about his difficult road to finding success. Like others, the West Virginia native didn't know what he wanted to do after college and eventually decided on becoming a comedian. But in the process, Steve wound up living out of his car when he couldn't make ends meet.

“It was so disheartening,” Steve told People in 2013. “A week is really the maximum you can do. This was three years! It was rock bottom. But even in my darkest days I had faith it would turn around.”

Steve's journey from Cleveland to hosting Family Feud and now ruling over cases as a judge is inspiring to us all.
