Two Polk County high school football teams remain alive in the FHSAA playoffs. Lakeland plays host to Kissimmee Osceola in a rematch of their regular-season matchup that Lakeland won, 25-22. Lake Wales plays host to Lake City Columbia.

Lakeland is in the state semifinals for the 16th time and is looking to return to the state championship game for the ninth time. The Dreadnaughts have won seven state titles under Bill Castle and have been runners-up once.

Lake Wales is looking to return to the state championship game for the third time in school history and are in search of its first state title. The Highlanders lost in the Class 3A championship game in 1993 and 1994.
