Stars of the Day: Somerset Berkley boys hoop edges Dighton-Rehoboth in key SCC battle

DIGHTON — In a battle between the No. 1 and No. 2 boys basketball teams in the South Coast Conference Blue Large Division on Tuesday, Somerset Berkley had the last word.

The Raiders took the lead late and hung on to beat Dighton-Rehoboth on the road, 49-47, in a league matchup at Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High school.

Ethan Dias led SB (6-4; 5-2 in SCC) with a game-high 23 points. He also pulled 14 rebounds.

Brendon Blaser chipped in with nine points off the bench. Mason Medeiros made the defensive play of the game, stealing an inbound pass with 1.4 seconds left.

The Raiders travel to Joseph Case High School on Thursday.

ALL-Stars: Greater Fall River's Girls Volleyball All-Scholastics

Old Rochester 70, Joseph Case 65

The Cardinals lost a close game with league opponent Old Rochester at home.

Landon Cayton led the way for Case (1-8, 0-7 in SCC) with a team-high 22 points.

Aiden Parent added 15 points while Hayden Cayton and Cayden Gonsalves each finished with 11 points.

The Cardinals host Somerset-Berkley on Thursday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Old Rochester 56, Joseph Case 29

The Lady Cardinals lost to talented league opponent Old Rochester.

Abigail Sirois had 11 points for Case while Liberty Gazaille chipped in with 10 points.

The Cardinals (7-4) trailed at halftime, 25-21.

Case travels to Silver Lake on Thursday.

The Lady Raiders dropped a league game at home to Dighton-Rehoboth.

Gabriella Nugent netted 11 points for SB (5-6). Allie Powers chipped in with six points.
