Giacomo Brosco and Noah Phelan, Portsmouth boy soccer

Brosco and Phelan each had a goal, but the Patriots were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw with Moses Brown on Wednesday. After Phelan put Portsmouth ahead 2-1 on a penalty kick with less than three minutes remaining, the Quakers tied the score with 20 seconds left on the clock.

Camilla May and Danaysha Cherry, Rogers girls volleyball

The two all-around players combined for seven service aces, three blocks and 10 kills, and May also had four digs as the host Vikings fell to St. Raphael 25-23, 22-25, 13-25, 22-25 on Wednesday.

Kat Deus, Portsmouth girls tennis

It was a tough day for the Patriots, who dropped a 6-1 decision to visiting Mount Hope, though Deus was a bright spot. Playing at No. 3 singles, she defeated Cate Merriam 6-4, 7-6 (3) on Wednesday afternoon.

Dushie score the only goal of the match on a header, and Verderber led a stout defensive effort as the Ravens downed Concord Academy 1-0 on Wednesday.

Fallon Bagley, Rogers girls soccer

Bagley scored the first of her three goals 43 seconds into the match, and the Vikings notched six goals in the opening 25 minutes as they cruised to a 7-0 win over Hope on Tuesday in Providence.

Anna Simoes and Phoebe Waugh, Rogers girls tennis

The Vikings' No. 2 doubles tandem rallied for a 2-6, 7-5, 11-9 win to keep its team from being shut out Tuesday as host Rogers bowed to South Kingstown 6-1.

Monday's stars

Easton Heroux and Brady Venancio, Middletown boys soccer

Playing without two key team members, Middletown played unbeaten St. Raphael to a 2-2 draw on Monday. Heroux netted both goals for the Islanders, including the equalizer with under two minutes to play. Backup goalkeeper Venancio made his first varsity started and turned away 11 shots.

Gianna Piker and Aidan Reilly, Middletown girls volleyball

Piker came through with 11 kills and three aces, while Reilly had nine aces, three digs and outstanding passing as the host Islanders rallied for an improbable 16-25, 13-25, 26-24, 25-20, 15-9 win over Rogers on Monday.

Kevin Sullivan and Chris Vachon, Portsmouth boys cross country

The two runners finished sixth and seventh overall, respectively, as they helped the Patriots split their Metropolitan Division meet Monday on the Bristol Town Beach 3.1-mile course.

Sullivan completed the run with a time of 18 minutes, 37 seconds and Vachon finished 12 seconds later as Portsmouth (1-2) beat Mount Hope 24-32 and fell to St. Raphael 18-39.

Dominic Bothur, Rogers boys cross country

The Vikings junior placed fifth overall on the 3.1-mile course at Curtis Corner Middle School with a time of 19 minutes, 24 seconds, but Rogers bowed to Narragansett 17-44 and host South Kingstown 24-34 on Monday.

Camila May and Danaysha Cherry, Rogers girls volleyball

May had seven digs, served five aces, swatted four kills and had three blocks while Cherry slammed seven kills and had three blocks and as many aces in the Vikings' 3-2 setback to host Middletown on Monday.

Abby Costa, Portsmouth girls soccer

The versatile midfielder kept the Portsmouth offense moving, allowing Kaitlin Roche to score the game’s lone goal as the Patriots edged host Coventry 1-0 on Monday.

“Player of the game would be Abby Costa,” Portsmouth coach Lauren Bulk wrote in an email. “She moved off the ball well, connected many plays and had some great moves.”

Eilish Condon, Tiverton girls volleyball

The Tiverton setter came through with 10 service aces, eight assists and five digs as host Tiverton swept Juanita Sanchez 25-18, 25-22, 25-20 on Monday.

Morgan Casey and Gracie Keyes, Portsmouth girls volleyball

The two seniors propelled host Portsmouth to its first Division I victory of the season as the Pats scored a 25-23, 25-22, 20-25, 25-19 verdict over West Warwick. Casey thumped 16 kills and had four blocks, and Keyes had five service aces and three kills.
