There's no need to leave Stark County if you're struggling to find a special gift for the holidays. From Massillon to Alliance, local businesses have something for almost anyone. The Canton Repository collected some items to help you show your loved ones just how great Stark County is. Here's our Top 10 picks of locally made or inspired gifts:

  • Milk chocolate turtlettes from Ben Heggy's. The Canton candy shop is known for chocolate-coated caramel and pecan clusters and sells them in 12-ounce boxes for $12.90.

  • Buckeyes from Waggoner Chocolates. The North Canton shop sells a variety of boxes and tins filled with the chocolate and peanut butter treat, including an eight-ounce box of buckeyes for $16.95.

  • Holiday Blend coffee from Muggswigz Coffee and Tea Co., which has locations in Canton and Jackson Township. The medium roast is "blended to compliment holiday desserts" and is $19.30 for a one-pound bag.

  • A coffee mug with the Pro Football Hall of Fame's logo from the museum's gift shop. Styles and sizes range from a $9.99 standard mug to a $12.99 15-ounce mug.

  • A "Canton" T-shirt from the Little Chicago Clothing Co. A variety of designs and colors are available for $25 each.

  • A "Places We Love" art print featuring Canton landmarks for $30 from Letterpress Jess.

  • A tin of gourmet popcorn from Nom Nom Popcorn, which has stores in Jackson Township and North Canton. A one-gallon tin with a single flavor is $24.95; a two-gallon tin with up to two flavors is $34.95; and a 3 1/2-gallon tin with up to three flavors is $44.95. Seasonal flavors include egg nog and ginger snap, and the company lists its best-selling holiday flavor as peppermint bark.

  • A bottle of wine from Gervasi Vineyard. The Canton winery has more than 30 varieties to choose from, but the Abbraccio "Embrace" Cabernet Sauvignon is a popular choice, according to Marketing Director Andrea Hartman. The $34-a-bottle wine is described as full-bodied with "bold layers of black currant, black cherries and the subtle notes of plum."

  • A Canton Food Tours gift certificate. A $68 pass for one adult covers the "most popular" evening tour, which stops at four restaurants in approximately three hours.

  • A gift certificate for a stay at The Brewers Quarters, a studio suite near the Sandy Springs Brewing Company in Minerva. The gift amount is customizable and nightly rates advertised on Airbnb are typically around $200.

For the foodies:

You don't have to go far to find sweet, savory or salty treats for the holidays.

The Hartville Marketplace's indoor shops have a wide variety of unique gifts and foods of all kinds. The nearby Hartville Kitchen bakery also sells homemade breads, cookies, cakes and other baked goods.

For artisan cheese and grazing boxes, Fromage du Monde offers online ordering for pickup in downtown Canton. The shop also operates La Maison, a rental space with a small retail area featuring products from local sellers — such as Lee's Bees, Akron Honey and Intelligent Intentions.

Nuts, chocolate and candy are available at longtime Heggy's establishments — Ben Heggy’s Candy Company on Cleveland Avenue NW in Canton, Heggy's Nut Shop on Tuscarawas Street W in Canton, and Heggy's Confectionary in Alliance and Salem. All have online stores with shipping or pickup options.

For philanthropists

If you're looking for gifts that do good, look no farther than Just Imagine Gift Gallery, The Shoppes at Aultman or Lily Pad Gift Shop.

Just Imagine in downtown Canton is operated by TWi, formerly known as The Workshops Inc. The nonprofit gallery displays and sells artwork created by adults with developmental disabilities who receive 30% of their sales.

The Shoppes, between Aultman's main and Bedford lobbies, offers more than the typical hospital gift store with home decor, flowers and a variety of other wares. Proceeds go to the Aultman Women's Board, which raises money for hospital improvements and services.

The Lily Pad shop at Sippo Lake Park's Exploration Gateway advertises "a wide variety of educational, science and nature-themed gifts for all ages" and features items with the Stark Parks logo or related to park programs. Purchases help fund the Wildlife Conservation Center and the rehabilitation of injured or orphaned animals.
