Palombo’s Italian Restaurant is opening a second location, Palombo’s Catering, at 1320 S Main St. in the Servus Centers in North Canton in the next few days.

This location will not be a full-service restaurant like the original location at 4100 Portage St. NW in Jackson Township. Instead, this second spot will be used for doing the prep work for the other location and for any catering orders they may have.

“We are hoping the future does include a small dine-in service, grab-and-go meals, and small events to be hosted here,” Palombo’s manager Amanda Diano said in an email on behalf of the owners Mark and Rick Palombo.

Diano mentioned owners are trying to secure a beer, wine and liquor license to host small events and have a dine-in experience similar to the original location.

Why the expansion now? Diano explained that Palombo’s is busier than ever.

“We got this location over a year ago, but we ended up completely gutting the whole restaurant and kitchen and starting over with everything brand new. We are expanding now because every day, our phones are ringing for more and more catering jobs, eat-in lunches, etc., while trying to operate our restaurant. We completely just ran out of room in our kitchen for all of our extra staff we needed to bring in to succeed in these jobs,” Diano said.

Although there is a new location, the original restaurant on Portage is “not changing, closing or moving.”

“We opened this second location with the intention of helping the Portage location run more smoothly and grow with our customers. We are now booking caterings or whatever your needs may be by calling our original location. We can’t thank our community enough for the amount of support and love we get day to day,” Diano said.

John’s Bakery and Cafe opens with new owners in the former Minerva Classic 57

John’s Bakery and Cafe recently opened in Minerva with new owners in the former Minerva Classic 57.

The restaurant, at 317 East Lincolnway, is continuing as a drive-through convenience store, home-cooking restaurant and banquet hall, and it has the same menu as before.

“We might make minor changes here and there, but you can still get all the great food at our cafe,” the owners stated on the John’s Bakery and Cafe Facebook page.

Now, the restaurant has a baker, who makes pastries and pies.

Owner John Myers, originally from this area, has returned to Minerva from Texas to run the business.

Myers is a former dairy farmer and restaurant owner in Ohio, and spent time in Texas running a successful art gallery, coffee shop, bar and events center.

As he did in Texas, Myers and his staff plan to give the restaurant new energy.

John’s Bakery and Cafe is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
