Jun. 12—NORWALK — With grateful joy, St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church is celebrating its 150th Anniversary (1872-2022). Bunting and banners on the front of the church announce this milestone to the community.

On Wednesday of this week, a special Mass was held, marking the start of a year-long celebration. After Mass, local and parish historian, Henry Timman, gave a presentation on the parish history, providing details on the congregation moving from the west end of Norwalk (W. Main St.) to "in town" (N. Hester St. and E. Monroe St. locations), to its present church location at 91 E. Main St., Norwalk (1890 cornerstone).

An ice cream social was enjoyed by many following his presentation.

A variety of events are being planned throughout this anniversary year, including an evening of outdoor Eucharistic Adoration, a Mexican fiesta, an Oktoberfest, a parish mission, a special Mass of Remembrance for our deceased parishioners, the Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service, a Mass and fiesta to honor Our Lady of Guadalupe, a liturgical music concert, a community dinner, and school programs. A bilingual Mass with Bishop Daniel E. Thomas and banquet will conclude the year-long celebration next June.

While St. Paul the Apostle Parish has been through many changes over the years — in locations, pastors, even its diocese — through it all, parishioners continued to worship together and serve one another and the community.
