St. Louis County needs volunteers for mental health council

Jun. 17—St. Louis County is looking for several volunteers to serve on its mental health advisory council for the northern half of the county.

Those who serve on the council are responsible for making recommendations and identifying resources regarding mental health services for children and adults to St. Louis County Public Health and Human Services.

The county formed two mental health councils in the fall, one for the northern part of the county and the other for the southern part.

Ideal candidates include people with professional training related to mental health as well as anyone who has faced their own challenges with mental health, whether their own or with a loved one, according to a news release from the county.

The goal of the council is to unite diverse perspectives on mental health in order to improve services in the county.

Members are asked to commit two years to serving on the advisory council. Additional volunteers are not currently needed for southern St. Louis County's mental health advisory council.

The application deadline is June 30. The group meets from 4:30-6 p.m. the third Thursday of each month. To learn more and apply, visit stlouiscountymn.gov/lac.
