St. Louis County land auction nets $900,000
Jun. 13—St. Louis County's latest online auction of newly offered tax-forfeited properties closed this week with 29 properties sold back into private ownership for a total of $903,575.
The auction, conducted through publicsurplus.com, closed Thursday. Of the properties purchased, 15 had competing bids resulting in sales above the original listing price, a county news release said.
The auction featured a variety of residential and commercial properties, and recreational land. All of the properties that included structures sold, including two commercial buildings, two houses, two duplexes and a barn. Also selling were several waterfront lots.
While the majority of people purchasing these properties are from Minnesota, there were also people from five other states who successfully bought land in the auction.
Properties that were not purchased at the auction are now available for sale on a first-come, first-served basis through the St. Louis County Land and Minerals Department until sold or put back on the online auction. There are approximately 140 properties currently available for purchase. The list of those properties, along with results from this latest auction, can be found online at stlouiscountymn.gov/landsales.
St. Louis County has one more tax forfeited property auction scheduled in October.
