A Springfield man died last month after becoming ill at the Sangamon County Jail.
Dylan Schlieper-Clark, 23, of Springfield was pronounced dead April 17 at Memorial Hospital. Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon said that Schlieper-Clark had been taken to the hospital April 14 from the jail.
According to Sangamon County Sheriff Jack Campbell, Schlieper-Clark was being held at the jail for violating probation related to an August charge of unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle. A charge of possession of methamphetamine was added April 13 when he was arrested on the probation violation.
Campbell said that Schlieper-Clark had been in the jail less than 24 hours prior to being hospitalized.
Shortly after being admitted, he was placed in the intensive care unit.
According to Allmon, a preliminary autopsy showed no signs of trauma. An investigation into the cause of death continues with a toxicology report pending. Contact Zach Roth: (217) 899-4338; ZDRoth@gannett.com; @ZacharyRoth13
