And if you've developed a political appetite:

A lot of twists and turns as court-ordered redrawn congressional maps were revealed over the weekend, but here's how it's affecting Rockland:

The county remains in the 17th Congressional District. But its current congressman, Rep. Mondaire Jones, doesn't. Jones, who attended East Ramapo schools, lives in White Plains and was zoned into the 16th. Jones now says he is going to run in the 10th, which includes Lower Manhattan and part of Brooklyn.

The court-ordered final congressional redistricting map was released by special master Jonathan Cervas in the early hours of Saturday, May 21, 2022. District 17 now contains all of Rockland and Putnam counties, northern Westchester and southern Dutchess.

Meanwhile, Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney's home in the 18th, which he represents, is now part of the 17th. So, he's running here. (The 17th will include all of Rockland and Putnam counties, northern Westchester, and a scooch of Dutchess.)

Assemblyman Michael Lawler, R-Pearl River, officially announced his candidacy for Congress today, with a press conference that drew various GOP elected officials.

Charles Falciglia of Suffern, a Rockland County legislator, had previously announced he was seeking the GOP ticket for a 17th Congressional District bid.

The congressional and state Senate primaries are Aug. 23.
