Spotlight for all to shine: Vote for the High School Girls Game of the Week

This winter, the High School Girls Game of the Week has shown that age is nothing more than a number.

The three 'Ledger MVPs' - which spotlights standout performances in the Game of the Week - are from three different grade levels. Pembroke's Mary Quatrale reinforced the notion in the Titans' 4-2 win over Hingham on Saturday, as the eighth grade defenseman delivered two goals - including the game-clincher.

Quatrale joins Rockland senior Julia Elie and Duxbury junior Ayla Abban to receive the nod this season (see the Ledger MVP Log below).

Maybe a sophomore or freshman will burst onto the scene this week to make progress towards getting one MVP per class - we'll have to wait and see.

Friday

Hingham at Whitman-Hanson, basketball, 6:30: Whitman-Hanson puts its unbeaten 9-0 start on the line against one of the other top-tier teams in the Patriot League.

Plymouth North at Duxbury, basketball, 6:30: Both teams emerged with winning starts, but recent losses haven't helped the Patriot League push. Leading up to Friday, they each have tough tasks ahead of them. (Plymouth North hosts unbeaten North Quincy, Duxbury visits Scituate, which is on a three-game winning streak).

Saturday

Quincy/North Quincy at Hanover, hockey, 2:00: Facing Pembroke on Wednesday and Hanover on Saturday, the Raiders (winners of three of their last four) have a tough week ahead of them.

Marshfield at Plymouth North/Plymouth South, hockey, 8:45: Both on the cusp of last week's Top-10 rankings, a win could help the Rams or the Eagles get in.
