Sport shorts: Class B All-State volleyball team announced

Dec. 1—The North Dakota High School Coaches Association (NDHSCA) announced the Class B all-state volleyball team on Nov. 30.

Defending State Champions, Linton/HMB, had two athletes named to the team. Seniors JayCee Richter and Teegan Scherr helped the Lions to a 28-2 overall record en route to the team's second-straight state title. Linton/HMB blew through the state tournament, sweeping all three rounds.

Richter also nabbed NDHSCA POWERade Outstanding Senior Athlete awards. Richter's mother and coach — Jaime — was named the NDHSCA SUBWAY Coach of the Year for the second straight year.

Abby Cox was the one other Region 3 athlete to collect All-State honors. Cox, a senior setter for the Oakes High School volleyball team, helped lead the Tornadoes to a Region 3 championship berth. Oakes ended up dropping 3-0 in the title berth to Linton/HMB.
