Special events: Polish Summer Picnic returns Friday, Saturday

Jun. 17—Toledo Area Polka Society returns with its sixth annual Polish Summer Picnic on Friday and Saturday. The picnic will include Polish food and refreshments, live music, pottery, and children's events, plus a pierogi-eating contest.

The picnic will take place at Oak Shade Grove, 3624 Seaman Rd., Oregon. Admission is $8 for attendees ages 16 and older, and free admission for all attendees under 16. For more information, go to Facebook.com/TAPSPolkas.

—Black Swamp Conservancy looks at environmentalism through the lens of filmmaking on Thursday. The conservancy will screen Farmscape Ecology and Look and See: A Portrait of Wendell Berry at the Field of Dreams Drive-In Theater in Liberty Center.

—The Northwest Ohio VegBash Plant-Based Food Festival kicks off Saturday.

The two-day vegan food celebration runs 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday at Club 16, 316 S. King Road, Holland. Vegan-food enthusiasts can anticipate a wide variety of plant-based foods and desserts as well as live music and shopping vendors.

—Toledo Night Market makes its debut for summer, 2021, on Saturday.

As a continuation of the Toledo Farmers' Market, the Night Market will carry on festivities into the late evening from 6 to 11 p.m. Attendees can anticipate live music by Everday People 419 and pickings from more than 85 vendors. Various food trucks and locally crafted beer vendors will be on-site as well.

The Night Market is at the Toledo Farmers' Market, 525 Market St., Toledo. Free parking is available at the site and nearby. General admission is $5, and free for children ages 12 and under.
