Southeast baseball gets seventh straight win to start the season

Dalton 5, Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe 3

Dalton (2-5) broke a five-game losing skid with a 5-3 win at Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe (0-7) Thursday.

Caleb Nix and Kaleb Valdez each hit a home run for the Catamounts.

The teams play again on Monday at 5 p.m.

North Murray 4, Northwest Whitfield 3

North Murray (3-5) held on late for a 4-3 win at home over Northwest Whitfield (5-2) Thursday.

The Mountaineers got up 4-1 after the fourth, then held on as Northwest scored two in the top of the seventh.

North Murray's Taylor Frazier was 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Gavin Morgan and Matt Redmond each picked up an RBI for Northwest.

North Murray plays on the road against Christian Heritage tonight at 5:30, and Northwest hosts a double-header with Cass Saturday beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Rome 5, Coahulla Creek 1

Rome (5-3) pulled away from Coahulla Creek (1-5) in the sixth inning to defeat the Colts 5-1 in Varnell Thursday.

The teams were tied at one from the third inning until the sixth, when Rome added three runs.

Irvin Hernandez picked up the RBI on the run for the Colts.

Coahulla Creek hosts Heritage tonight at 6.

Southeast Whitfield 5, LaFayette 1

Southeast Whitfield got its seventh straight win to begin the season as the Raiders defeated LaFayette (5-3) on the road Thursday.

Southeast's Johny Vega allowed just two hits while pitching six innings, and Bryson Lofton didn't allow another after coming in in relief in the seventh.

Lofton also went 2-for-3, and Jacob Gentry was 3-for-4. Brady Ensley, Alden Patterson and Cobey Patterson each tallied an RBI.

The Raiders defend their perfect record at Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Boys soccer

Coahulla Creek 10, Ringgold 0

Coahulla Creek (6-1-1) got its third straight 10-0 victory when they took down Ringgold 2-1 by the same score Thursday at home.

The Colts scored five in the first half and added five in the second to end the game via mercy rule.

Coahulla Creek plays at Trion Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Girls soccer

Christian Heritage 1, Murray County 0

Christian Heritage (2-3) got a 1-0 win at home over Murray County (0-6) Thursday.

The first half ended with no score, and the Lady Lions scored the eventual winning goal in the second, when Emily Tejada assisted Athena Critides. It's the second straight win for Christian Heritage after an 0-3 start.

Christian Heritage hosts Darlington Tuesday at 5, while Murray County plays at Rockmart at the same time.

Ringgold 2, Coahulla Creek 1

Coahulla Creek (3-3) fell at home to Ringgold (3-0) 2-1 on Thursday.

After Ringgold struck first, Evelyn Mendiola scored the lone Coahulla Creek goal in the first half.

The Lady Colts play at Trion Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Boys tennis

Christian Heritage 3, Trion 2

Christian Heritage improved to 2-1 on the season by winning at Trion Tuesday night. Tucker Ridley (6-0, 6-3) and Jake Smith (7-5, 6-1) won in singles play for Christian Heritage. The doubles combination of Nathaniel Deal and Nick Suttles came from behind to seal the match for the Lions (5-7, 7-6, 10-7).

Coahulla Creek 3, Rockmart 2

Coahulla Creek got a win over Rockmart Thursday 3-2.

Cam Souther (6-3, 1-6, 6-4) and Colt Souther (6-2, 6-2) earned wins in singles for Coahulla Creek, and Brock Hix and Lucas Mulkey earned a doubles win (6-1, 6-3) to clinch the match.

Dalton 3, Sonoraville 2

Dalton got a 3-2 win over Sonoraville at home on Thursday.

Jay Patel got a 6-1, 6-0 win in singles, while Ernesto Garcia and Reid Rehberg won in doubles 6-4, 6-1.

Northwest Whitfield 5, Ridgeland 0

Northwest Whitfield got a win over Ridgeland Thursday with just one singles line being played.

Nick Matthews got a 6-0, 6-0 win in singles, and Ridgeland forfeited all other lines.

Girls tennis

Christian Heritage 5, Trion 0

Christian Heritage (3-0) defeated Trion 5-0 Tuesday night. Singles winners were Callie Stanfield at 6-0, 6-0, Josie Taylor at 6-3, 6-0 and Anna Jarrett at 6-0, 6-1. Completing the sweep, in doubles, MaKray Lents and Katie Rose Stanfield won 6-3, 6-0 and Monica Morales and Allie Raughton 6-3, 6-1.

Dalton 3, Sonoraville 2

Dalton earned a home win Thursday night over Sonoraville 3-2.

Mincey Jones and Ava White got wins in singles, while the duo of Halie Dycus-Floyd and Sarah Wise and earned a 6-1, 6-3 win in doubles.

Northwest Whitfield 5, Ridgeland 0

Northwest Whitfield defeated Ridgeland Thursday.

Ridgeland forfeited all three singles lines. Northwest's Sreya Gireeshkumar and Tamra Nelson got a 6-0, 6-0 win in doubles, then Reese Brown and Kristina Thompson did the same.

Rockmart 5, Coahulla Creek 0

Rockmart swept Coahulla Creek 5-0 on Thursday.

Coahulla Creek's Marlee Fossett and Julianna Lollar grabbed a few points from their opponents, but couldn't get a win.
