Here's a look at the scores and highlights from Friday's high school action on the SouthCoast.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Dartmouth 50, Old Rochester 41
Kat Cheesebro had a monster game to power Dartmouth to a season-opening win over the Bulldogs. Cheesebro notched 21 points, eight rebounds and six steals. Lily Gangi chipped in with 11 points and five steals while Remy Wilson added seven points. “Sarah Kelly’s energy off the bench on defense was an incredible spark of our team tonight,” said Dartmouth first-year head coach Brian Jalbert, who got his first varsity win. For Old Rochester, Emerson Gonet had a team-high 11 points while Emma Johnson added eight and Caroline Brogioli chipped in with seven. Old Rochester (0-1) will travel to Bourne on Tuesday. Dartmouth (1-0) hosts Apponequet on Tuesday.
Carver 52, Fairhaven 28
Tenley Dakin scored a team-high nine points in a season-opening loss for the Blue Devils in their first game under first-year head coach Erin Costa. Maya Medeiros and Ava Morrison both chipped in with six points while Kyra Joseph added five. Fairhaven (0-1) hosts Westport on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
