SouthCoast high school scores and highlights for Wednesday, Jan. 19

Here's a look at the scores and highlights from Wednesday's high school action on the SouthCoast.

BOYS HOCKEY

ORR/Fairhaven 7, Upper Cape Tech 2

Junior forwards Harrison Hughes and Derek Gauvin scored two goals apiece to power the Bulldogs to their third win of the season. Freshman forward Caleb Bousquet had a goal and an assist. ORR/Fairhaven (3-4, 2-2 SCC) faces GNB Voc-Tech at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday at Hetland.

Apponequet 5, GNB Voc-Tech 2

Anders Alves scored both of the goals for the Bears. Jacob Belli picked up an assist. Mike Melo played a strong game in net keeping the Bears in the game. The Lakers out-shot the Bears 34-25. Voc Tech (1-5, 1-2 SCC) plays Saturday against ORR at 7:30 p.m. at the Hetland Rink.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Westport 62, GNB Voc-Tech 53

Serrone Ramos scored a team-high 13 points for the Bears, but it wasn’t enough against the undefeated Wildcats as Voc-Tech saw its three-game win streak come to an end. Cam Lynch scored nine points while Tyler Dubois, Evan Mello and Jhaden Reis each had seven. The Bears (7-4, 4-2 SCC) host Dighton-Rehoboth on Friday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Somerset Berkley 51, GNB Voc-Tech 41

Kaitlyn Duarte scored a team-high 12 points while Jill McDonald added nine for the Bears. GNB Voc-Tech (0-8, 0-4 SCC) visits Dighton-Rehoboth on Friday.

BOYS TRACK

Case 40, Wareham 39

Winning events for Wareham were Kevin DeCollibus in the 55 (6.7) and 300 (39.9), Arman Araujo in the 55 hurdles (9.0), Gabe Silva in the 600 (1:34.8), Garrett Goodman in the shot put (49-3) and Luke Wiley in the high jump (5-2). The Vikings (0-3-1, 0-2-1 SCC) will compete Saturday at the Div. 5 Relays at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Somerset Berkley 67, Apponequet 19

Eion Gallagher won the 600 while Ian Nickerson was first in the high jump and third in the 55 dash. Apponequet’s 4x400 team of Aidan Miller, Dane Mapgrayo, Sean Cardoza, and Judson Cardinali also won. Marcellus Colley was second in the 55 hurdles. The Lakers (0-4, 0-4 SCC) will face Dighton-Rehoboth on Jan. 26 at GNB Voc-Tech.

GIRLS TRACK

Case 51, Wareham 27

Winning events for Wareham were Sienna Cabe in the 55 hurdles (10.4) and Alexandra Bumpus in the 300 (56.0). The Vikings (1-3, 1-2 SCC) will compete Saturday at the Div. 5 Relays at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Somerset Berkley 68, Apponequet 18

Ava Wisniewski won the mile and 1,000 for the Lakers while Kohana Fontinha was third in the 300 and high jump, Orianna Hernandez was second in the 300 and third in the 55 and high jump, Elena Vargas was third in the 2-mile and Niamh Gallagher was third in the 55 hurdles. Apponequet (1-3, 1-3 SCC) will face Dighton-Rehoboth on Jan. 26 at GNB Voc-Tech.
