South Dakota State opens Missouri Valley play with road shutout at Indiana State

Sep. 26—TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — A 34-point first half helped No. 2-ranked South Dakota State to a victory to open the Missouri Valley Football Conference schedule Saturday at Indiana State, with the Jackrabbits winning 44-0.

Chris Oladokun threw for 216 yards and three touchdown passes and caught one from Pierre Strong from 22 yards out to lead SDSU (3-0, 1-0 Valley). Strong rushed 20 times for 150 yards, as SDSU racked up 517 yards of offense, averaging nearly nine yards per play and earned its first shutout win since 2015.

Tucker Kraft had 85 receiving yards on five catches and a touchdown, with Jadon and Jaxon Janke both catching first-half touchdowns. Kicker Cole Frahm had three field goals and Amar Johnson added a fourth-quarter touchdown run for SDSU.

SDSU's defense allowed 226 yards of Indiana State offense, and held the Sycamores (2-2, 0-1 Valley) without points on any of their three appearances in the red zone.

The Jackrabbits play their final non-conference game of the regular season on Oct. 2, hosting Dixie State (Utah) at 6 p.m. in Brookings.
