South Central falls to Margaretta in state-ranked matchup

May 24—CASTALIA — In a matchup of state-ranked teams, visiting South Central fell to host Margaretta, 4-1, on Monday in a non-league game at Lions Park.

Each team was looking to stay sharp prior to separate district semifinal games later this week.

The Trojans (19-6) are scheduled to face Dola Hardin Northern (13-9) in a Division IV district semifinal at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Galion. The Polar Bears (19-6) are slated to face Genoa (19-6) in a Div. III district semifinal at 2 p.m. Thursday in Norwalk.

Both teams are the No. 1 seed in their respective districts.

The Trojans then had at least one runner on base in four of the next five innings, but did not get the big hit to draw any closer.

Carson Music, Eric Sanders and Gunner Ray added singles for South Central. Music went all six innings on the mound. He allowed four earned runs on five hits with two strikeouts and two walks.
